Tattoo Aftercare
What you need:
Antibacterial soap
Aquaphor Ointment (made by Eucerin)
Fragrance-free Lotion (such as Lubriderm)
What you do:
A few hours after you get your tattoo, remove bandage and wash gently with antibacterial soap using only the palm of your hand. (Do not scrub!)
Gently pat dry with a clean paper towel and let air dry for a few minutes.
Apply a THIN LAYER of Aquaphor ointment and re-bandage with plastic saran wrap. Be careful not to wrap too tightly. This will keep moisture in and dirt out, not to mention save your sheets while you sleep!
The next morning, remove bandage and wash with warm water and antibacterial soap, using – you guessed it – only the palm of your hand! (Still NO scrubbing!)
Do not re-bandage, just wear loose clothing that will not irritate or hinder the tattoo.
Wash tattoo daily and apply a thin layer of aquaphor for the first 2 days.
After 2 days, continue to wash daily and apply fragrance-free lotion such as Lubriderm a few times a day as needed.
The tattoo should heal in approximately 10 days. (Healing times vary.)
Helpful Tips
The tattoo will feel like a light scrape or sunburn. This is normal.
Do NOT pick or scratch it! This could cause scabs to fall off prematurely and pull out some of the pigment, leaving light spots in your tattoo.
Stay out of the sun and chlorinated or salt water until the tattoo is fully healed.
After healing is complete, use a high SPF sunblock to protect the tattoo from fading.

PIERCING AFTERCARE
What you need:
Hypochlorous Acid (HClO) Spray (Preferred)
Sterile Saline Spray (Alternative)
Mouthwash/oral hygiene products and a water bottle (Oral piercings)
What you do:
For EXTERNAL piercings:
Use a Q-tip and HClO spray to clean your piercing 2x a day/AM & PM.
Spray HClO directly on to your piercing, or use a saturated Q-tip or cotton ball to gently dislodge any loose debris or crusties from the jewelry being careful not to pick any scabs or tissue.
Piercing care should be performed after showers or face care when the steam and warm water has had a chance to loosen dried secretions and to eliminate any potential soap residue. Do not apply makeup, lotions, serums/creams, acne treatments or hairspray to healing piercings.
Sterile saline is also acceptable but HClO spray is preferred for it’s antibacterial and antiviral properties and is safe to use on open skin.
For cartilage piercings, a travel or donut pillow is advised to keep pressure off of the piercings until healed and properly fitted post-swelling. Sleeping on fresh piercings can cause migration and trauma bumps.
For lobe piercings, the “t-shirt trick” can be helpful in keeping unnecessary bacteria, oils, and contamination off of healing piercings. Ask your piercer for a demo!
For ORAL piercings:
Rinse with Listerine, oral wound wash, or water with sea salt 2-3x a day (in the morning and after major meals) until healed.
Increase water intake and keep a fresh water bottle with you to swish and swallow after consumption of beverages, vaping/smoking, and snacks to keep your mouth fresh and free of debris.
Be diligent with oral hygiene! The ADA recommends brushing for at least 2 minutes twice per day and incorporating daily flossing and mouthwash to remove interdental plaque and debris for optimal oral health and to reduce the risk of disease, which can affect piercings.
Helpful Tips:
Avoid OINTMENTS unless specifically prescribed by your physician for your piercing as they hold in dirt + oil + skin cells + sweat, which can lead to infection.
Avoid RUBBING ALCOHOL or PEROXIDE which can dry out skin and damage delicate healing cells.
Do NOT do sea salt soaks or submerge your piercing in water as this can lead to infection and cause unnecessary irritation to the healing tissue.
Do NOT change out jewelry before piercing is properly healed unless assisted by your piercer due to the high risk of damaging the piercing channel.
Healing times vary. Your piercer will let you know the normal healing time for your particular piercing.
Follow these instructions exactly to ensure proper healing.
If you have any questions or show any signs of infection, allergic or adverse/abnormal reaction resulting from your piercing or tattoo, please call the shop at (817) 594-7566 immediately. If infection occurs, medical attention is required to get an antibiotic.
